Victorian Village sits immediately north of downtown Columbus and west of the Short North, and takes its name from the Victorian-era homes — Queen Anne, Italianate, and Second Empire styles — that line its streets. Goodale Park, one of the city's oldest public parks, anchors the neighborhood and hosts the annual ComFest festival. Like German Village, Victorian Village is a designated historic district, though its lots and homes tend to run slightly larger, and many have been converted to multi-unit apartments over the decades.

What sets Victorian Village apart from most of the neighborhoods on this list is that it directly hosts a major senior living campus: Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber, located on Neil Avenue at the neighborhood's edge, offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing on one campus. That makes Victorian Village one of the only central-Columbus neighborhoods where a resident could realistically remain in the same immediate area from independent living through skilled nursing care, without relocating to a different part of the metro.

Walkability and access

The neighborhood is highly walkable, with proximity to Short North dining and galleries, downtown Columbus, and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center a short drive or rideshare away. Street parking can be tight, which matters more for visiting family than for residents themselves.
